Well, you read a few more posts this time around, but you still missed the big one explaining everything.
And Kerry may be inconsistent, but I'm still voting for him because Bush has shown he's consistent...in leading the country (domestically) in a direction I really don't want to see it go. I think all but one of his proposals in the last two years I've hated or strongly disagreed with.

Heh, that's one of my favorite arguments people have. "I like Bush, he's strong and consistent in where he's heading!" Doesn't seem to matter that it's consistently bad to a very large number of people, but the good thing is that he's consistent.

Upon occasion I've placed myself in my best Socratic state of mind and have questioned various people around me about why they're going to vote for their particular candidate. After I get through the superficial crap rhetoric that most people fire up with when speaking about their candidate from either side, nearly all the Kerry supporters are basically voting for him because he's not Bush, but Bush supporters, on the other hand, generally have some reason to support ol' W (usually a stupid reason, but a reason nonetheless). Now, this is a terrible reason to support a particular candidate and can only lead into a hole in the ground, you need to have something to cling to in order to support either one side or the other so when the world is going to hell, you can say, "Well, at least ol' Kerry has strengthened the regulations against tainted beef, everything must be OK!" "Well, at least he isn't Bush." is not something to be saying when Kerry fires up the draft and sells the entire state of Florida into slavery as who knows what Bush would've done.
I'm personally taking the lesser of two evils path, just opposite of most people using this method. I'm going to vote for Bush. My particular issue is gun control, so even if Bush drives the economy into the ground and we end up being pelted with nukes from China, I can still say, "Well, at least I still have my guns!" and be happy as hell sitting in some fallout shelter, using ammo as cash and the devalued fifties as toilet paper.

I'm only really being half serious with all of that, I actually can back up my decision to choose Bush over Kerry (my lesser of two evils comment stems from there being no chance that I would ever vote for Kerry and Bush being the best alternative). All I'm really saying is that someone who chooses their candidate simply because he's not the other guy is not making a good decision.

Didn't you just say you were voting for Bush because was not Kerry?
