So that's what those are.

I showed that cartoon to my Russian friend, who speaks no english. No, he sits in class and when the teacher asks him a question, he replies "pero (but), my spoon is too big" or "I am a banana!"

Well, we go out into a feild with whatever equation we need to solve, then feed each other boiled peices of some kind of plant until our heads start to spin 360 degrees, at which point everything goes black, and we wake up with mooses stuck in embarrassing body parts, but the equation written correctly.

It's really advanced. These Europeans....
