Not always. Most frequently, he simply buried the opponents in "facts" while employing little or no intelligent/critical thinking. I suppose one could claim that he won by default, but since the goal of political debate should always be to expand one's understanding of the world, and to work towards the broadest possible societal agreement, simply snowing your opponents under with endless links isn't really a "victory".

It really sucks to have a boring sig. You know, the kind that drones on forever and never really says anything. I try my best to never have one of those. Every time I make a new sig I try to get it to be a truly outstanding sig. Some people have sigs like that. With neat (EVula) links and stuff. Witty quotes are good too. But then some people have really, really, boring sigs that you'd die before reading more of. They just go on, and on, and on...those sigs really annoy me. I mean, they say nothing and nobody really cares anyway! I pity the people who have those.

That is my biggest problem with JC, posts become so long, I don't have time to read them. I have so much homework that this board of short to the point phrases is much better. On the note of homework, i just got my 2004-2005 (Junior) schedule and the homework load will be going from bad to worse. I am responsible for it though:

AP calc 1
AP calc 2
honors english 11
honors analytical writing
honors 20th century government
honors American Government and economics
Spanish IV
Physics

ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! I will never see the light of day. At least some of my friends are in the same boat.

Just Chat pisses me off. Here is an example of a random argument:

lotsofblackflags| Well, that is my opinionm

-----------------------------------------------------------
UE Patriot | Well, you spelled "opinion" wrong, so you are an ******* with nothing
| to say. I am going to point out all of the flaws in your post, and how
| you phrased a sentence until you give up.
-----------------------------------------------------------
andrew | No, you are wrong, and I am right, and I will do whatever I need to do
| to prove you wrong, or at least look like I am presenting facts until
| you give up.
----------------------------------------------------------
========================================================================

I don't like it there, because there is not one single left wing moderator that I know of (except sometimes SA), or at least who has the guts to post on there. Andrew takes too many below the belt shots on people. It is infested wit hright wingers, who will never stop until you you tell them that you are an ******* , and they are right.
My favorite poster on JC in The Infidel. He is a left-winger, I believe, but he doesn't cower in the face of Andrew, Mikee, and the entire population of JC when he stands on an issue.

Speaking of Mikee, wasn't he a moderator at one point? Why is he not now?

Yeah he was, I remember him from the first day I posted... Some personal reason or another that he stopped, maybe time - who knows.

Yeah, I've also often thought about that. Although, responding as such would probably would have just provided him with more motivation and he would write a damn book right back at you.

It stands for International Bacceloriate. And it exists all over the world.

It certainly is. Several of my friends in Australia did the International Baccalaureate, and are now studying at prestigious American Universities. Of course, I didn't, and I'm studying at one anyway...

But nevertheless, the IB is a great way to get into Universities in countries other than your own. Practically all of them accept it as a qualification for entry.

CaptainTripps is a mod on Just Chat. He's a mostly liberal type of person, and he also happens to be one of the funniest people I've ever met. And Just Chat has as many left wingers as it does right wingers. Unless of course you just automatically catagorize anyone who can form a competent arguement as a right winger.

Quote

The_Infidel is indeed a left winger. He's also now banned from the webboards for his years of being a mean, ignorant, and sardonic spammer. He was perhaps the least productive person on Just Chat, who always took the time to insult someone but hardly ever took the time to actually contribute anything. All the webboards, not just Just Chat, are a lot better off without him.

And what is this "cowering in the face of Andrew" stuff? Andrew is a very reasonable person. If you're referring to the things The_Infidel said to him, that wasn't standing up in the face of a tyrant. That was just being an imbecilic little **** in the face of someone who doesn't agree with you. And The_Infidel didn't stand on issues. He backed himself into a corner with his ignorance and then tried to fight his way out by insulting people. I pity anyone who actually looked up to him.

He retired, much the same way ElGuapo7 did. Very uneventfully.
