I've always prefered my cables (and pasta) al-dente so that wouldn't work for me, however, you might run the cable through a pasta grinder then paste all the cable strings toghether again, that should definately loosen it up a bit.

Buy more flexable FireWire cables. Not all cables of one type are the some. There are certainly 'stuff' USB cables, etc.. Have you used the FireWire cables that come with the iPod? Quite loose and flexible.

THe iPod cables were the first one I really had contact with, so agter those, others seem stiff.
