I still don't understand how fast food companies even survive, since most people seem to hate their food...

Sometimes its the most convenient option, regardless of food quality, on long road trips.

you must have seen Super Size Me. That movie put me off fast food. I avoid everything, but In-n-Out.

The only "fast food" joints that I still frequent are Golden Pride BBQ and Chicken, a local fried/roasted chicken and BBQ rib joint that specializes in the best green chile stew around and the finest breakfast burritos on Earth in typical Albuquerque efficiency (a chicken joint that never sells any chicken), the Fil-Am Supermarket, which has a deli counter that can whip up a pretty fine Filipino lunch on the run (try the pork adobo and tocino on pancit lunch combo), and Sonic. Yes, as much as it pains me to admit it, Sonic. Let me explain. A couple months ago I was the recipient of a SuperSonic breakfast burrito, a large tots, and a large Strawberry-Limeade from an associate of mine who offered to buy me lunch and, thus, I was reintroduced to a place that I used to enjoy greatly as a young child but hadn't been to in a solid decade. It turns out that I still rather enjoy their food and have gone back a number of times since that reintroduction.

I predict someone will point out that's a stupid prediction.
