What you said is true, but it is also hard for the human carrier to beat a gaitori carrier down, so I think that in human carrier to gaitori carrier, they're about equal. The human carrier is better at most kinds of fighting.

Also, witht he carrier shooting the gunship with the magneto pulse: I doubt that the carrier could do much damage with the magneto pulse against a gunship. The gunships are too fast. In carrier to carrier combat, though...

I don't really have favorite level. I haven't tried to not lose a single ship, and I've never tried to see if I can do level 18 after the transport has landed and/or the carriers have arrived.

Ah, but picture two ships with 3,000 shields firing their rapid magneto weapons at one ship with 5,000. Suddenly 3,000 shields (and two ships with them) looks a little tougher, dosen't it?

Just to make sure that this thread doesn't die too quickly:
What is your favorite level and please also explain why?

10 is also one of my favorites. But to this day, it's still a toss up between levels 17 and 13. 17 is especially fun while using the resource booster cheat. This way you let the Auds. capture the bunkers stations and have one spectaculer fight. 13 is always fun because it still remains a challange long after you beat the game. Plus it's rarely boring to pound the tar out of a Sal carrier.

Quote

Which levels can you complete without losing a single ship?

Assuming we are only talking about levels where you get to biuld ships, levels 3 and 6, and if I'm in the right frame of mind, level 9.

Quote

New question: How many people can defeat Level 18 AFTER the Audemedon transport landed?

Well I'm not sure how many of there are, but I know that I'm one of them.

Quote

Can you defeat the level after the transport landed and AFTER the Audemedon carriers arrived?

Usually, but certainly not easily and not without losing almost all of my ships. Takes damn near half an hour to do it too.

Yeah, I have, and in twelve minutes, but it wasn't fun.

Considering that all of us have played through all levels over and over again, it might be itneresting to make the challenge harder. For example:

1) We've all heard people boasting how they managed to destroy the relay dishes and defeat the station without using escorts in Level 2. But how many of them managed to accomplish that using the beam weapon alone? How about not using the Obish escort and the beam weapon alone in Level 4?

2) Did anyone try defeating the Gaitori AFTER allowing them to destroy all of your power stations and WITHOUT destroying any of theirs?

3) Did anyone succeed in killing every single Cantharan ship in level 7? Without losing either the astrominer or the heavy cruiser?

Sometimes it's interesting to challenge yourself by seeing what happens when you must operate under very restrictive conditions.

I know that in a contest between a Human carrier and 2 Human gunships, the latter wins. What I am trying to point out is that the Human carrier is better than what most people seem to believe.

One should also not neglect the use of fighters. I'm not suggesting that Human fighters are any good. However, I'm sure everyone has noticed how fighter can collide with larger ships and slow down their acceleration or bump them off course.

Additional challenges (Note: I'm not suggesting that I completed all or most of the following):

1) How many people managed to win in level 19 WITHOUT building a single gunship?
2) Anyone managed to defeat level 17 WITHOUT building any carriers, heavy destroyers, or gunships?

Any other interesting suggestions?

I have killed all the Cantharan ships in "On The Rocks" without losing the astrominer or the heavy cruiser. I used to just abandon the astrominer at that part, but its really not too hard. Killing the schooner is easy. Then they tend to send the Gunship in after you first, which is also easy. Then they send in the cruiser and heavy cruiser, which is where it gets a little hard. I just got very agressive at that point, and it is actually pretty easy.

I have beaten it with the beam weapon alone (Level 2, haven't tried 4 yet)

Yes actually. On my first try I wasn't paying attention very well so they blew up all my power stations and I didn't know at the time I could take out theirs.

No, but I have been able to avoid them completely.

Back to the carriers:
If I need to get a transport through an enemy fleet I'd have all my carriers deploy all their fighters and engage the enemy while I manually take control of the transport and sneak it through. Since the enemy is so busy engaging the enemy it works most of the time.

Favorite level:
Of all the ones I've gotten to so far I would have to say 13. Its fun and the computer tries something different every time.

Hey Avatara, it's cool that your changing the color of your font and all, but try to stick to one color. Red and blue are already taken, and I was hoping Slug would use green. How about violet?

Any way, my answers to the latest questions are identicle to Slug's.

How about:

Level 16: defeat Audemedon fleet with only Elejeetian cruiser?

All right now. It's someone else's turn to think up of some new ideas.

I hope you'll pardon me for being frank. I also hope you will keep in mind that I am someone who is grateful to you for your plug-ins. With these thoughts in mind, here's my response:

1) My initial reaction to the above post is: Is that supposed to mean anything to me? Let's be honest here: Why would I need/want your trust in the first place? I don't even know you! And unless there is a change in posting rules that I am not aware of, otherwise I can say that I can post on these boards with/without your trust.

2) I believe that my IP address is unique. If you really need to verify my identity, just remember the IP address. Furthermore, knowing that I will never register should tell you that whoever registers with any variation of "htjyang" is not me. That can be verified by a check with the IP address. If someone registers using my new name, I'll simply start going down the Arabic numerals by attaching numbers in the end.

I sincerely hope you're not offended by point 1) because it was not meant to offend you. I do hope that you will recognize the logic in it. I draw a very distinctive line separating what I need, what I want, and what I neither need nor want. (a.k.a. "Would be nice") Forgive me for being honest, (Or would you rather like me being dishonest?) but "Slug's trust" falls into the 3rd category.

How about doing level 2 or level 4 only using the missiles? Without escorts and only missiles?

How about Shoplifter 2 with only lepton. Or only missiles.

Or surviving Space Race, the Musical! as a fighter.

Or switching around who owns what and surviving Space Race as the Gaitori.

I'd also appreciate your plug-ins Slug, if only I could get them to download correctly... Oh well.

Can anyone beat level three using only a single fighter and a transport? (warp the cruiser far away, hold position, and transfer control to a fighter). I haven't.

Also, can anyone help me with ideas for a signature?

I didn't have a signature for a long time. Then I just saw some text that I thought was really nifty, so I used it. I might change signature sometime, but this one has worked for now.

A new challenge:

Has anybody beaten any of the levels where both sides have a planet by building only transports?
