From what I can tell, the Core is the exact same as my Wave except it's got redundant screwdrivers and it doesn't have scissors.
The Crunch is basically just pliers with some knives added on.
The PST, which they don't make anymore, has tons of redundant screwdrivers too. The awl is okay, but when's the last time you really needed an awl? I got an awl on my Swiss Army Knife anyway.
SuperTool was yet another redundant set of screwdrivers, plus an awl.
SuperTool 200 was the same as SuperTool, except with rounded edges.

So I think we've established here that when multitool makers are trying to figure out what to put in that extra slot, they add either scissors or an awl, and when they're trying to make a bigger tool, they throw in extra screwdrivers. If I want more screwdrivers, my CyberTool has a choice of seven plus four hex drivers. If I want an awl, I got the CyberTool too (where again, I think they threw it in because they had a little extra room). I got the Wave because it had tools my CyberTool didn't, some better versions of what I already had, and nothing extraneous.

Maybe before you declared a whole set of tools as "pussy", you should've actually looked at what the different tools offered. In any case I'd rather have everything the other guy has, plus scissors (which by the way, I used quite often I was working tech crew for 9 years), than only what the other guy has.

Heh, yeah. According to my sales spreadsheet, I've sold over 300 Leatherman tools in the past five years. The line is the biggest seller for the little special order knife business I run on the side. I pretty well know what the different tools offered are and, even if I didn't, I have all the sales brochures and could, you know, just look at my own Wave if I wanted to. It's in the tackle box, where it belongs.

The Crunch is a pair of vise grips with a knife, a few screwdrivers, and a file added on. Not hardly pliers with some knives. Not exactly something I'd imagine too many fishermen or office workers would find useful.

The PST is the Leatherman. The original. I used awls a heck of a lot more than I used scissors on the job. The PST's (and the Supertool's) awl was nice because you could hit it with a hammer to score steel without ######ing it up (making it more useful than most stand-alone awls). I've ground the big screwdriver on my PST into a chisel, just like most folks I know.

The Supertools are just older Cores with different locking mechanisms, punch awls instead of the newer one, and the old wire cutter design (the new one handles stranded wire better).

As to the Wave vs the Core:

"New" Wave: Pliers, knife, serrated knife, wire cutter/stripper, scissors, "large" screwdriver, large bit driver, small bit driver, metal/diamond file, saw, bottle opener, can opener, ruler.

Core: Pliers, knife, serrated knife, wire cutter/stripper, wire crimper, 5/16" screwdriver, 7/32" screwdriver, 1/8" screwdriver, philips #2 screwdriver, wood/metal file, saw, awl, bottle opener, can opener, ruler.

16 to 13 by my count, in favor of the Core (19 to 15 by Leatherman's, although they double-count a number of tools).

Core = Wave - diamond file - scissors - bit drivers + wood file + wire crimper + 7/32" screwdriver + 1/8" screwdriver + philips #2 screwdriver + awl

If you come up and offer me a wood file, wire crimper, two screwdrivers, a tiny screwdriver, and an awl for a diamond file, tiny scissors, and a handheld bit driver, I'm making that deal because flat, fine diamond files are worthless except for polishing s### (from the Leatherman Wave sales brochure, the diamond file is perfect for polishing fish hooks - whee!), I don't need any tiny scissors (perfect for snipping line), and handheld bit drivers are just annoying.

The Wave is made for fishing. That's why it's called the Wave. Water and all that.

The Core is the next generation of the Supertool 200. The Supertool is made for work. That's why it's called the Supertool. "Core" references the core of one's toolbelt.

You can't use the Wave as a hammer (I've tried - you beat the hell out of it if you really get on it), the striking surfaces are smaller so you have a harder time hitting it with a hammer, the exposed knives reduce the comfort of the grip and get clogged with s### (literally - there are no openings on the outside of the core when closed), there is no chisel, there is no little screwdriver - easily the second most useful tool on any Leatherman after the pliers (and don't give me that the eyeglass screwdriver fulfills the same purpose, you can't hit that s### with a hammer).

The Wave is a Leatherman for fishermen. It is so by design. If anyone is using it for work, they're not doing especially hard work.

One of our maintenance guys refers to my Pathfinder as a pussymobile. There's nothing saying I can't fill it up full of old toilets and paint, it's just not intended for that. It's not a beat up truck like my old Mazda or the wrecked '68 Ford Econoline SuperVan I used to drive to work, hence, pussymobile. A multitool not made for work, bought by people who generally won't use it for hard work, is a pussy-multitool. Doesn't mean that nobody has ever used it for work, but that doesn't mean that it's not a pussy multitool.

My D Cell MagLite has lots of marks on the bass after I used it as a hammer to hit my tent pegs in when camping.

I most certainly have never had and in fact still do not have a nature which led me to act in a manner which is occasionally suggestive of the possibility that my phraseology could on occasion turn in a direction which some persons could in fact consider to be of a long winded nature!

Fixed: I most certainly have never had, and, in fact, still do not have, a nature which [has] led me to act in a manner [that] is [even] occasionally suggestive of the possibility that my phraseology could, [upon] occasion, turn in a direction [that] some persons could [] consider to be of a long[-]winded nature!

Even better: It would be the utmost in complete and utter absurdity for any persons possessed of even the barest modicum of sense or reason to even so much as allude to an assertion contending that I am now, or have ever been, possessed of a particular manner or mode of expression that could, in any way, at all, whatsoever, be describable as being long-winded, needlessly verbose, or sesquipedalian.
